Food
Source
When it comes to taking vitamin A, the
recommended daily allowance is approximately 5,000 international
units for an adult. If you feel that you are coming up
short of this mark, taking a vitamin A is the way to go.
The majority of vitamin A comes from animal food sources
which include eggs, cheese, meat, and liver among others.
The only problem with all of these food sources is that
they are also very high in fat and cholesterol. So as
you can see, you want to get the proper amount of vitamin
A, but at the same time you need to protect the rest of
your body as well.
Deficiency Problems and Overdosing
For people who do not get the proper
amount of vitamin A, problems with the eyes and infections
often arise. On the other side of things, too much vitamin
A can cause a variety of different birth defects. In addition,
taking too much vitamin A can cause your skin to turn
a yellow or orange tint. |
