Choline
It is safe to say that unless you are
very familiar with science that you have never heard of
Choline. Generally speaking, Choline is a nutrient that
serves several different purposes within the human body.
Even though you may not know what Choline is all about,
you still need to make sure that you are getting enough
of this nutrient on a regular basis. Luckily, this is
not difficult to do as long as you know a little bit about
the nutrient.
Functions of Choline
There are two major functions of Choline.
First off, it is essential for proper brain and cardiovascular
function. Without the proper amount of Choline the human
body will not be able to perform at its peak for extended
periods of time. Also, Choline helps to aid in cellular
membrane repair. Again, this is something that is very
important if you want your body to look and feel good
for as long as possible.
Food Source
Generally speaking, you will not take
Choline direct in any of your food. Instead, you will
eat foods that are rich in phosphatidlycholine. These
foods include soy, egg yolks, peanut butter, and beef
liver. Believe it or not, it was only in 2004 that the
USDA finally released information on which foods were
high in Choline. |
